We partnered with Williamson Tea to create a custom WooCommerce platform that reflects their heritage brand while significantly improving conversion rates and customer experience.

The problem

Williamson Tea, a fifth-generation family-run business cultivating high-quality teas since 1869, had developed a prestigious brand known for its iconic elephant caddies and commitment to sustainable farming in the Kenyan highlands. However, their digital presence wasn’t reflecting the beauty and heritage of their brand, nor was it effectively converting visitors into customers.

Through our discovery process, we identified several key challenges:

Their existing website failed to showcase the premium nature of their products and didn’t properly reflect their Kenyan heritage and sustainable ethos

  • The checkout process was cumbersome and outdated, resulting in high cart abandonment rates
  • Product presentation lacked the sophistication needed to communicate the unique qualities of their speciality teas
  • Mobile shopping experience was suboptimal, limiting sales on an increasingly important platform
  • Limited payment options were restricting international sales and customer convenience

As makers of the iconic range of Limited Edition Elephant tea caddies, Williamson Tea needed a digital experience that would match the craftsmanship of their products while improving sales performance and driving traffic to their online store.

The Solution

We designed and developed a custom WooCommerce solution that addressed each of Williamson Tea’s challenges. Our approach focused on creating a visually stunning website that would showcase their beautiful products while implementing robust e-commerce functionality to drive conversions.
Our solution included:

  1. A completely reimagined visual design that celebrates the brand’s heritage with rich photography of both their Kenyan tea farms and their distinctive product range
  2. Implementation of WC Checkout with express payment options including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal Express
  3. Custom product display templates that showcase their iconic elephant caddies and speciality teas with immersive imagery and detailed descriptions
  4. A responsive design optimised for mobile shopping with intuitive navigation and streamlined checkout
  5. Enhanced product filtering and categorisation to help customers easily find teas based on flavour profiles, caffeine content, and brewing methods

We paid particular attention to storytelling elements throughout the site, creating opportunities to share Williamson Tea’s commitment to sustainability, their solar-powered Changoi farm, and their partnership with the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust for elephant conservation.
